Day 8 - First IS lecture!

Exactly 1 week has passed since the day I stepped into China, Wuhan! I can still remember the first day when I bid farewell to my parents at the airport. Although there were no scenes of them tearing, I know that they will be worried about me throughout this 5 weeks trip. I tried to make phone call every day without fail as I think this is the only way we can communicate and inform them not to worry. Also, I can deny the fact that I misses home. I bet everyone here also misses home from time to time. However, there are still 4 more weeks to go! I have to persevere on! All the best Joel!
For the past 1 week, I have seen and learnt many new things in Wuhan! It is an interesting week for me! Instead of playing computer games, watching movies, the last week was much more fun! We get go to different ancient temples and see it real life! It is just amazing! Moreover, I also learnt about the culture of China like many of them have the habit of littering on the floor and it is best not to confront them for it is their 'culture' to do so. However, some of the people here are also quite friendly to foreigners! For example, the shop owner near the school library, she is quite friendly in trying to understand what we are saying! On the other hand, the shop owner in one of the printing shops beside the hospital has somewhat horrible attitude. That day, my friend just wanted to ask about his phone and as he did not understand, he kept repeating ‘I don’t know’ and told us to go away. I do not think this is the right attitude as in Singapore, customer is always right and we should serve them well.
Today also marked the day of our first IS lecture! It is on Chinese culture where we are introduced to much stuff which include the places of interests in Wuhan to food! The food there really made me salivates, especially the fried donut! I really wish to try and taste it but apparently I could not find any of those stores inside the university! I have been also trying to find fishball noodles here as it is said that the fishball are freshly made here but I just could not it! Hopefully, throughout these 5 weeks I am able to eat it at least once! The lecturer also introduces us to other places of interests in Wuhan like the Red Cliff; Soon, we will also be visitng such places like the Red Cliff and get to know about the history of The Three Kingdom! However, the lecture slides are more than 100 slides and my attention span is pretty short! Hence, I find it hard to concentrate and listen after some time and hope that there will be more breaks in future! Here are the food that they shown! It made me salivates as that day lecture was at 8.30am and I did not have my breakfast!

Today is also the first day ever that I tried road side stores with my lecturers! I told him that if he did not see me tomorrow for lecture he will know the reason! At first, after consuming the food from road side stores, I am pretty afraid as I am more prone to food poisoning! However, after knowing from other peers that they tried some of the stores and it is pretty safe, I have decided to pluck out my courage and go for it! For you only live once (YOLO), hence it is a good opportunity for me to try it out! Apparently, their road side stores should be quite clean as I am still able to be sitting here and continue writing this blog! :D
I shall end it here now! Hope that the Cola trip later will be fun!
