On day 16, we had our second IS lecture where we are introduced to the history of China and the different dynasty. China has a long history that stretches all the way to BC. This shows how young Singapore actually is. Even though we may be young, our forefathers worked hard to build the present, well developed Singapore and we as the fortunate descendents are currently enjoying the fruits of their labour! For myself, I had not been living in any hardship throughout all these years. My only focus since the day I was born was to study. Yet, I failed in doing so. I kept telling myself to work hard the next year but to no avail as I kept procrastinating. Our forefathers had worked so hard for us and here I am enjoying myself without any motivation to work as hard as them to be useful to Singapore in future. I knew I must change. Time wait for no man. For the past 18years, I knew I can do way better but I did not work hard for it. For the remaining years, I am determined to put in all my efforts to education and not to fail parents expectations for us! I hope I am able to do it and to become a wise person who is able to put my wisdom to good use!
After the lecture, in the noon, we had our first PE lesson! For PE, we played a number of different games to warm ourselves up. Personally, I prefer the way we warm ourselves up back in Singapore. Although we may play a number of different games, many of the games do not require much movement. Thus, I do not think that we are really warm up for the next activity after all the games. Also, students who do not participate in the games and will not be able to stretch their muscles. On the other hand, in Singapore, before PE lessons, we are usually required to run 1 to 2 rounds around the field. As a results, every student will get to warm up as it is not a choice but a must! This will ensure that their muscles are stretched which will lower the chances of muscle cramps after strenuous exercise.
As soon as the games ended, the main attraction for the PE lesson finally began! It is none other than the rock climbing! It looks really high as we look from the ground. To be honest, I am afraid of rock climbing. Due to peers pressure, I had no choice but to give it a shot! I can feel my leg wobbling and my heart pounding faster and faster as I walked towards it. This is my first time trying it and I prayed that it will be a successful one! Fortunately, for me, it was raining at that period of time and my shoes were too slippery to climb. Thus, I did not manage to climb quite high up which is good for a person like me who fear heights! Although I fear heights, I am impressed by myself as I managed to pluck out my courage and went for the climb, putting in my best effort!
Rock Climbing! Look at how high it is!
BBQ!
At about 7pm, we had our BBQ party with the locals! It's a great time for us to mingle with them to know more about their culture! Unfortunately, the fire took too long to start and many students started leaving to go street food as there was test the next day. I knew it was not good to leave as the locals had spent time coming down for this BBQ party just for us. However, there was test the next day and we had no choice since we had not finished our revision. Also, I heard from my friends that they used all sort of means to try getting the fire which include gasoline and I really would not want to get food poisoning tomorrow as I am having common test. I am left with no choice but to go for street food to satisfy my hunger. Luckily, there will be another BBQ party with the local this Sunday! This time, I promised to stay to the end and to really mingle well with the locals!
That's all for today! I wish everyone the best in tomorrow's common test!
